This page provides all of the information that we have been able to gather on Mr. Stanton to date. Mr. Stanton is one of two candidates from Rutland township (the other is Alfred Douglas).
Chris and his wife Jeannie have lived in unincorporated Rutland Township for 15 years. They have three sons; two are currently attending Hampshire schools and one is a graduate of Hampshire High School. Chris is an active volunteer in District 300 currently serving as a citizen member of the Board of Education Construction and Facility Oversight Committee and the District 300 Technology Directions Committee. Prior to retiring in 2004, Chris was the Executive VP, CIO of Information Technology at Experian.

In addition, we received answers from Mr. Stanton (in italics) specifically on the following additional questions that voters have asked about:
No groups are backing my campaign financially. On April 2, 2007 I was endorsed by LEAD 300 (unions for D300) and have chosen not to accept any monies from them. I do accept the LEAD 300 endorsement and appreciate their confidence in me.
The biggest assets a successful school district can have are the trust and confidence of its community. While I believe that the district has tried very hard to reach out to the community, there are always opportunities to increase involvement. Another candidate made the comment that the outcomes of all district committees are all predetermined by the administration. Having volunteered on several district committees, I would disagree with that statement. I would give community members and committee members more credit than that and say that district staff has been very responsive to community input. I suggest that the district continue to have public participation in all groups or committees formed. We need to continue to improve the information flow to the public in an easy to understand format. As a "for instance", our communities should know information like enrollment numbers, district debt, fund expenditures, graduation rates, test scores and the goals of the district. While most, if not all, of this information is available on the D300 web site we should create an easy, consolidated view of the district metrics for the public.
The Board is responsible for retaining and evaluating the Superintendent. The Superintendent in turn is responsible for identifying and recommending additional staff members. A competent superintendent who shares the Board's mission and purpose and hires staff in accordance to the mission and purpose of the district should indeed work closely with the Board. To assume that a successful working relationship between the Administration and the Board is a bad thing and is disingenuous to the process by which the school district operates. This is not to say that Board Members do, or ever should, accept recommendations and information presented by the Administration without careful review and further independent research if they judge that to be necessary. Additionally, the board should have a quarterly performance evaluation and goal review with the Superintendent. This would give the Board and the Superintendent the ability to assess progress and make changes to achieve the goals. This is a process that most corporations have with their CEO.
